Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehghan who was speaking in a ceremony in Defense Ministry on Saturday believed that the US had been targeting Iran’s national economy and had been watching closely “our movements and plans” to find infiltration loopholes for their acts of sabotage; “our decision-making centers and sensitive organizations are under constant intelligence gathering activities by the enemies; they seek infiltration to finally destroy our factors of strength; however, our nation had proved to be resilient even in the face of harshest threats the most telling example is the Imposed War of 1980 by Saddam Hussein’s Iraq, where we resisted and defended our national glory,” he told the ceremony. “Today, the US seeks to target our national and defensive capabilities and scrambled to target our sensitive centers; any nation should be strong in terms of defense and economy to meet such formidable situation.”
“Psychological warfare, promoting Islamophobia, Iranophobia, and spreading hate toward Shi’ism are in their inventory of measures against the Islamic Republic of Iran; a sectarian strife is raging now in the region which has been once started by imperialism and its proxies to protect Israel, to which some reactionary states of the region have joined shamelessly and have supported the most extreme version of terrorism,” Dehghan emphasized. “Cyberspace is another ground against the Islamic Republic, by which they promote hopelessness, weaken self-confidence of the people and promote ethical corruption and licentiousness among the young cohort to have national resolve succumb.”
Dehghan also believed that the US had been waging efforts to provide a distorted image of Islamic Republic far from its true nature, with the objective being infiltration into country’s key organizations; “polarizing the country and political terrain provides the enemies another instrument to weaken national solidarity, against which we have been resilient and defended our borders during four past decades; we could not expose their false claims to human rights, while their complicity in violating of the downtrodden nations of the world belies the same claims,” Dehghan concluded.
