Iranian runner misses World Challenge final

TEHRAN, May 23 (MNA) – Iran’s Olympian runner Hassan Taftian has failed to reach the final round of IAAF World Challenge in the Netherlands.

Taftian, who had previously finished third in the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Challenge series in the Czech Republic, failed to find his way to the finals of the next phase of the tournament hosted by the Netherlands on May 22.

Hassan Taftian clocked 10.37 seconds in the first round to drop out of the event while he holds a personal record of 10.10.

It is believed that fatigue and intensive competitions prevented Taftian, as the fastest runner in Iran and Asia, to repeat his own record.

Iran’s athletics squad has so far received seven quotas for 2016 Rio Summer Olympic Games.

On May 22, the Netherlands hosted the AA DRINK FBK-GAMES as part of International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Challenge.
