Iranian director Behnam Behzadi’s social drama Inversion was purchased by the French company Diaphana to be released in French theaters.
The movie is a tale of three siblings, which masterfully features Tehran’s air pollution. It is about Niloofar, a 35-year-old girl in Tehran who after the air pollution reaches the maximum level in the city because of the inversion effect, must decide whether to leave with her ailing mother or stay behind with someone who loves her.
Sahar Dowlatshahi, Ali Mosaffa, Setareh Pesyani, Shirin Yazdanbakhsh and Toufan Mehrdadian are the cast.
Behzadi, 44, is also the film’s scriptwriter and producer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in filmmaking. Behzadi has made more than 20 films including features, shorts, TV movies and documentaries, some of which have won awards at international festivals.
Diaphana is an independent film distribution company, created in 1989, in France. The company distributes 10 to 12 feature films annually of all nationalities. Diaphana has also developed video editing activities since 2003, following the work on the theatrical releases of movies.
