Iranian, Afghan presidents stress boosting ties over phone

TEHRAN, Mar. 21 (MNA) – Iranian and Afghan presidents made a telephone conversation emphasized expansion of friendship and cooperation between the two neighboring nations.

In a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, the President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani congratulated the new Iranian year (Nowruz) to the Iranian government and nation.

Ghani stressed the important role of Iran in the region calling for further expansion of bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Afghan president also wished dignity and good health by God’s grace for Iran’s Leader and President as well as progress and success for the Iranians.

President Hassan Rouhani, for his part, extended his felicitation to Afghanistan’s government and people on the occasion of Nowruz emphasizing the need to reinvigorate Tehran-Kabul ties in various areas.
