Iran highly regards expansion of ties with Eastern countries

TEHRAN, Mar. 15 (MNA) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said the country would be serious about expansion of ties with Eastern countries.

Underlining that the next year would be a turning point in growth and development for the Eastern countries, Larijani said Iran seeks further relations with the countries in East of Asia.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang in Tehran on Monday.

Pointing to the need to increase the level of economic and trade relations between the two countries, Larijani said "we can expand economic relations between the two countries in various medical, educational, scientific and experimental fields."

Parliament speaker considered two cases in expanding trade relations, one banking cooperation between the two countries which would facilitate trade and investment and the other bilateral knowledge about investment capacities of each country.

Pointing to the visit of European businessmen to Iran in recent months, Larijani noted that Iran’s nuclear agreement led to the flow of many businessmen from different countries, especially European countries to visit Iran, however, Iran considers ties with Eastern countries in a more serious way.

Truong Tan Sang, for his part, said Vietnamese nation always pays respect to the Iranians due to their rich history and culture and that attaches great importance to expanding relations with the country.

“Iran's nuclear deal was a huge diplomatic success, opening a new chapter in bilateral ties with the world countries,” added he.

Underlining the role of parliaments in expansion of bilateral relations, he expressed hope that Iran’s Parliament and Friendship Group take more active steps in promoting relations between Iran and Vietnam.

Tan Sang said Tehran and Hanoi politically enjoy good relations, however, they should work to promote ties in various trade and economic fields, including in culture, industry, fisheries, tourism and academic activities.

Vietnamese President also noted the importance of international and regional relations, adding cooperation at UN and NAM level can help achieve political attitudes towards each other.

Pointing to the need to combat terrorism, he said Vietnamese leaders insist the unchanging policy of our country which is condemnation of international terrorism.

“Vietnam has always supported the position of Iran against terrorism and hopes all countries would be strongly determined to destroy terrorists,” he added.
