Iranian fudokan practitioners claim title at Asian event

TEHRAN, Mar. 05 (MNA) – Iranian male and female karate fighters have managed to stand atop the podium at Asian Fudokan International Championship.

Kermanshah Karate Federation representative Nabi Fathi said the first Asian Fudokan International Championship was held in western Iranian city of Kermanshah with Iran finishing first in both Men’s and Women’s events.

Iranian sportsmen landed in the first position of the Asian tournament while Afghanistan finished as the runner-up and Iraqi karate fighters came third.

Moreover, Iranian female karate practitioners clinched the victory of the women’s competitions, which were staged at Kermanshah’s Shahid Beheshti sports hall while Iraqi competitors snatched claimed the second position and Afghans managed to settle for the third position.

The sporting event brought together over 900 athletes from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikstan and contests were held in two sections of kata and kumite.

The first Asian Fudokan International Championship opened in Kermanshah on March 2, and wrapped up on March 4.
