"Neither us, nor they are eligible to decide or comment on Assad’s presidency and it is only up to the Syrians to enforce their own political solution," said Mohhammad Javad Zarif, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to the reporters who asked his opinion about the latest comments made by Saudis and Americans on removal of Assad.
The Chief of Iran’s diplomacy made the remark while leaving Munich for Tehran on Saturday after three busy days in Munich during which he shared the table at the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) and had a host of bilateral meetings with his Russian, Chinese and American counterparts.
Accompanied by his Deputy for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian during the stay in Munich, Zarif also met with the Secretary-General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad bin Amin Madani on Thursday.
"Ceasefire in all areas of Syria except those held by terrorists" was the agreement Zarif and his counterparts reached at the end of the meeting of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) in Munich on Friday.
