Wrestlers bag 10 colorful medals in Bulgaria

TEHRAN, Feb. 01 (MNA) – Iranian Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers managed to win a total of 10 medals at the 2016 Dan Kolov & Nikola Petrov tournament in Bulgaria.

On the third and last day of the Bulgarian tournament, Mahdi Niazi (65kg) failed in the attempt to win the bronze medal only managing to finish in the fifths place. In 97kg, Masoud Khajeh Salehani was eliminated in the 97kg weight category.

Meanwhile, Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler in 85kg crushed the Bolgarian rival clinching the bronze medal. In 66kg, Mahmoud Habibi stood on the third podium while Soheil Raeisi (85kg) was eliminated from the event.

Accordingly, on the first and second days of the event, freestylers Payman Biabani (61kg) and Ali Mojerlu(86kg) had received two gold medals while two silver medals was snatched by Abolfazl Hajipour(61kg) and Amir Reza Amiri (125kg).

The Greco-Roman quad had also won one gold by Mahdi Ebrahimi (80kg) as well as three bronze medals by Mohammad Reza Garaei, Keivan Rezaei and Amir Hossein Hosseini in 50kg, 80kg and 98 kg weight categories, respectively.

The 54th International wrestling tournament dubbed as Dan Kolov & Nikola Petrov convened in the Bulgarian capital Sofia on January 29-31.
