Speaking during the Fourth Iran-Oman Strategic Committee here on Tuesday, he described relations between Tehran and Muscat at a superior level, and said defense-security cooperation is needed against terrorism and extremism.
Amir-Abdollahian underlined that consultations with Oman, which enjoys realistic, balanced and logical perspectives, can bear crucial and effective impact on regional stability and security.
Calling for further cooperation in the field of trade and economy through JCPOA, Amir-Abdollahian said Oman enjoys a special status in Iran's foreign policy and we seek expansion of ties with the country, with no restrictions.
Omani Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ahmed Al-Isaei, for his part, underlined Iran's constructive role in the region, saying taht establishing regular joint committees between the two countries indicates dedication and will of the officials of the two sides to develop and strengthen comprehensive ties.
"Since Oman highly regards Tehran's important regional role, we have put enhanced bilateral cooperation on our agenda," he added.
Pointing to growing insecurity caused by terrorist acts in the region, Al-Isaei called for increasing cooperation and consultation between all the countries of the region, including Iran.
The fourth meeting of Iran-Oman Consultative and Strategic Committee began on Monday at the Foreign Ministry's Institute for Political and International Studies in northern Tehran. Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian led the Iranian delegation to the talks. The two sides discussed the latest developments in the region, including in Yemen, Bahrain, Iraq and Syria and underlined the continuation of close consultation between the two countries.
