The actress won "the best actress" nomination of the festival for her role in Azerbaijan’s film Nabat , directed by Elchin Musaoglu.
Motamed Arya also won a special mention at the 9th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) for her role as a nurse in Iranian director Morteza Farshbaf’s drama Avalanche.
Nabat was screened at the 2014 Venice Festival and was selected as the Azerbaijani entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards, but was not nominated.
The story highlights the Karabakh war and revolves around Nabat and her husband Isgandar, a former forest guard who has grown old and sick.
They live in an isolated house far from the village and their son has been killed in war. Their only means of support is the milk produced by their only cow. As war approaches and following her husband's death, Nabat is left all alone to fend for herself.
International Bosphorus Film Festival’s main goal is to contribute to the development of motion pictures that have ethical, esthetical and technical integrity in Turkey and in the world as well as to support young producers and directors.
The 2015 edition of the festival was held in Istanbul from Nov. 20 and 27.
