The 10th edition of the Grand Prix de Futsal kicked off on Wednesday in Brazil where Iran could thrash the Colombian squad 4-1 in their opening match on Thrusday.
Hossein Tayyebi scored two goals for Iran while Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh and Hamid Ahmadi netted one goal each.
Colombia had been a pain in the neck of Iran in the Futsal World Cups as well as the previous round of Grand Prix.
Iran is playing in Pool B of the international competition with Colombia, Angola and Uruguay.
Brazil is the most successful team in the tournament with eight titles while Spain won the futsal competition once in 2010.
Iran finished runner-up once in 2007, and a second time in 2009. The Islamic Republic stood on the bronze podium in 2013 and 2014. It claimed the fourth place in 2010 and its following year.
