Deputy FM demands cease of Saudi attacks on Yemen

TEHRAN, Nov. 04 (MNA) – Iran’s deputy-FM for Arab and African affairs has emphasized the need for Saudi Arabia to halt military attacks on Yemen as well as the resumption of talks among Yemeni groups.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met with UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed discussing the latest developments in Yemen.

Referring to indiscriminate military attacks on Yemen’s people and infrastructures by foreign forces, he reaffirmed Iran’s positions with regard to the country’s crisis, calling for an end to military attacks as well as resumption of talks among Yemeni groups.

Amir-Abdollahian further expressed Iran’s readiness to offer assistance in the course of talks.

The UN’s Special Envoy, for his part, appreciated Iran’s efforts in helping to resolve the political crisis in Yemen pointing to the plights of Yemeni people; “great efforts have been made to stop the war and to provide humanitarian aid,” underlined the envoy expressing hope that the measures will reach a conclusion as soon as possible.

“There exists a political solution to Yemen’s crisis and the fundamental outlook to reach an agreement requires all countries’ cooperation and support for Yemen-Yemen talks,” stressed the official.
