VP hails Armenian gate to Europe, Eurasia

YEREVAN, Oct. 15 (MNA) – Speaking in the joint seminar of Iranian and Armenian businessmen on Thursday in Yerevan, First VP Jahangiri highlighted the potentials of trade between the neighboring countries.

Armenia is the sole Eurasian country who shares a terrestrial borderline with Iran, said Eshagh Jahangiri, Iranian First Vice President, on Thursday in Yerevan in the joint seminar of Iranian and Armenian businessmen.

The official voiced content with his attending a gathering which aims to activate the economy and trade ties between Iran and Armenia.

Iran and Armenia share a history of interaction and cooperation, consistent despite the tides and ebbs, highlighted Jahangiri.

Pointing to the residence of many Armenians in Iran, he stressed that Iranians look at Armenians as a trustworthy community of their own country, not a religious minority.

Since the establishment of the republic government in Armenia, the Islamic Republic set up good relations with its northern neighbor and it has been following an upward trend in all these years, said the Iranian official.

Iranian first vice president underlined his satisfaction over the cultural and artistic cooperation and interaction between the two countries, but he added that he expects better economic ties between Tehran and Yerevan while the neighbors are politically determined to broaden ties.

Armenia is the only Eurasian country with a common terrestrial borderline with the Islamic Republic of Iran and it can be the gate for Iranian goods exported to the nations of the union, affirmed Jahangiri.

He also referred to the possibility of having some parts of manufacturing of Iranian goods in Armenia, to authorize the export of the products to the EU.
