“Wednesday, May 9,” the Iranian film by director Vahid Jalilvand, won RIFF’s main prize, the golden puffin as discovery of the year 2015,wrote the RIFF official website about Jalilvand’s special address on the occasion. Italian 2015 Venice Film Festival also honored the film worthy of the prize for Best Film. In his video message to the jury, Jalilvand expressed gratitude for the jury; “the film has a leitmotif of magnanimity and greatness of heart, two attributes Iranian cherish and deeply respect,” Jalilvand, the film director, said in the message.
Ali Jalilvand, the producer told Mehr News that the film was screened in noncompetitive section of Zurich Film Festival, and was given a standing ovation by the audience; “the agreement for screening the film has been signed with the authorities and will begin screening early and mid-November if the circumstances are favorable,” he added.
