Zakani reminds Amano of ‘5 expectations’

TEHRAN, Sep. 20 (MNA) – The head of Parliament Special JCPOA Commission has said the Commission has concerns over defense and security issues.

Alireza Zakani, senior Principlist representative who leads the Special JCPOA Commission, demanded Yukiya Amano, the Director-General of the IAEA to ‘consider Iran’s redlines.’

Amano is in Tehran to address issues between Iran and the IAEA, his fellow organization, and two agreements signed earlier this year. He attended Iran’s Parliament to answer some questions and clarify some issues on the same two agreements.

Zakani, himslef an expert in nuclear medicine, made also 5 expectations the Commission would see the IAEA ‘consider in its conduct;’ ‘non-political and transparent addressing of Iranian nuclear program, resolving past issues and closing all political dossiers against Iran, protecting Iran’s nuclear achievements and information as a trustee, helping with development of industrial and research technologies needed in Iran, and cooperating in global disarmament efforts and its starting from the Middle East and North Africa’ were the five expectations laid down by the Commission.

“We are sensitive to defense and security issues and Iran’s insurmountable position in the region, and want to see your adherence to this important redline,” Zakani directly addressed Amano.
