Glimmer, Hostess, and Bandage are three short films of Omid Abdollahi to vie at 2015 edition of Sapporo International Short Film Festival in Japan.
Along with Abdollahi, three other filmmakers are contesting in the competition from Switzerland and the Netherlands.
The tenth edition of the event kicks off on October 7, 2015 and will run through October 12 in Japan’s fourth populated city of Sapporo.
Glimmer chronicles the story of an old optician who is going to close his optometry shop due to his weak eyesight while one of his clients who has not come to pick up her eyeglasses.
The film has participated in a number of international festivals and received several awards such as Bronze Medal from Festival of Nations, Ebensee, in Austria and Jury Mention Special Prize from Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival.
Glimmer also won the Jury Prize in the Short Fiction Competition at the 16th Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts in Egypt.
The film’s cinematographer Reza Teimouri was also nominated for his work at the 2013 Polish international independent film awards dubbed Grand OFF.
Hostess written and directed by Omid Abdollahi is about a middle-aged woman who unwillingly, has to participate in her son’s party. And she is not even a guest but a hostess.
Born in 1978 in Iranian southern city of Shiraz, Abdollahi is now a member of Iranian Short Film Association (ISFA) and Iranian Documentary Filmmakers Association.
