Iran Air Force to hold military drills today

TEHRAN, Sep. 05 (MNA) – Iranian Air Force will conduct Devotees of Velayat Territory 5 maneuver today on Saturday.

Deputy Commander of Air Force Brigadier General Alireza Barkhor said that the Devotees of Velayat Territory 5 (Fadaeeyan-e Harim-e Velayat-5) military war games will be held in three aerial zones in an area of 400,000 square kilometers in Isfahan.

He noted that the preliminary stage of the Air Force drills will start on Saturday with participation of F4, F5, F14, F7, Sokhoi 24, Mig 29 and C 130 in Isfahan.

The war games will host all fighter jets, bomber jets, transport planes, reconnaissance aircrafts, refueling planes and different kinds of drones, Barkhor noted.

Underlining that the drills are planned in three stages, Brigadier General Barkhor said the first stage deals with reconnaissance, receiving and transferring intelligence.

During the first stage, pilots of the Air Force will use fighter jets and drones in different parts of the war games zone round the clock to identify the specified targets, he said.

The second stage directs to hitting the identified targets and the third stage of the maneuvers will focus on passive air defense.

Brigadier General Barkhor pointed out that the Air Force maneuvers aims at boosting the skills of its commanders, conducting operations in simulated combat zone, updating systems and testing defense achievements and also displaying the combat power of the Iranian Armed Forces.
