Referring to the talks between Iran and Russia in MAKS Air Show, Bijan Bonakdar announced that talks were held with Sukho 100 aircraft manufacturer, but they were still at an early stage; however negotiations have been held on collaborative manufacturing aircraft.
Pointing to the transfer of aircraft manufacturing technology from Russian companies to Iranian companies, he noted that in the aviation sector there are good opportunities in the hands of Iran stressing that the national interests must be considered in purchasing the aircrafts given the world's largest aircraft manufacturers desire to cooperate with Iran.
Considering the possibility of importing Russian planes into the country, Bonakdar said the talks have been held in this respect but the issue is still under study and consideration. “However, studies regarding electronic systems production, engine, fuselage as well as flight tests need to be conducted to determine the safety of the aircraft” he added.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Bonakdar said the plane hasn’t entered the production process yet adding that of this kind of aircraft only one or two types have been manufactured which doesn’t exist in Iran.
Bonakdar further continued that the Iran’s new situation at international level this year has intensified the competition between the foreign countries whereas Western countries expressed a great desire to cooperate with Iran and Russia is trying not to fall behind this market.
He also underlined the need for negotiation with both sides given country's requirements in aviation sector stressing the need for considering the country’s interest as well as exploiting the best technologies.
Referring to Iran’s remarkable achievements in spite of the boycott of this industry, Bonakdar said Iran’s capabilities in this regard attracted Western companies and they consider Iran as one of the hubs of the region.
