Perspolis garners first victory of season

TEHRAN, Aug. 26 (MNA) – The Fifth round of Iran's Pro league of soccer 2015-16 started with three matches in cities of Anzali, Ahvaz and Tehran.

The Fifth round of Iran's Pro league of soccer 2015-16 kicked off on Tuesday in Iranian northern port city of Anzali where the hosts were edge passed by visiting Tabrizis. Malavan experienced their first defeat under the new head coach Hamid Steeli against Gostaresh Foulad of Tabriz in a home game on Tuesday. The single goal of the event was scored in the very beginning of the match at minute one by Shahram Goudarzi.

The second fixture of the day which got many Iranians sitting in front of TV sets was held in Ghadir stadium of Ahvaz between Foulad of Khuzestan and the red giants of Tehran. In a good day of quality performance, the reds succeeded to score two goals in 50s and garner their first three points of the season in an away match. Both goals of Perspolis were scored by Taromi in the 51st and 57th minutes of the event.

The last fixture of the day was between Saipa of Tehran and the table-toppers of Isfahan. Sepahan defeated Saipa 2-0 with Ehsan Hajsafi’s headers at the 50th and 90th minutes. With the three points of this game, Isfahanis cemented their position at the top of the table.
