TEHRAN, Aug. 23 (MNA) – Yousef Karegar’s short film Elegy will attend 11th edition of Kazan International Muslim Film Festival in Russia.

In its new international presence, Elegy will compete with films from Tajikistan, Egypt, Mexico, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Italy and Russia on September 5-11.

Elegy (Aghi) is a short film produced by Urmia office of IYCS and tells the story of an old man who has been waiting for the return of his missing son for 25 years.

Kargar’s production has enjoyed a number of international screenings at various film festivals including Silk Screen Film Festival in US, Zanzibar Film Festival in Tanzania, Cannes Short Film Corner competition, Salisbury Film Festival in USA, 2015 Gwinnett Center International Film Festival in USA, Cinema Povero International Film Festival in Italy, Okseo Film Festival in Hambourg of Germany and Jahorina Film Festival in Bosnia.

The festival, also known as the Golden Minbar International Film Festival, is held as a place for regular meetings and an exchange of experience between filmmakers from Russia and Islamic countries.

The purpose of the event is creation of an objective representation of Islam and Muslims in Russia and international community. The participated films are required to reflect spiritual and moral values as well as cultural traditions. The motto of the festival is “Dialogue of Cultures Through the Culture of Dialogue.”

The 10th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival will take place from September 5 to 11 in Kazan city of Russia.
