Iranian Karatekas garnered a total of 58 medals in a distinctive performance more than a head and a shoulder above the other nationals to win the team title in the second International So-Kyokushin Karate Competitions.
The Iranians grabbed 25 gold medals, 26 silver medals and 27 bronze medals in the three-day tourney.
With two medals Zimbabweans got the second place in the competition as they bagged a gold and a bronze medal.
Lagging behind Zimbabweans were the Iraqis who won a silver and two bronze medals to land at the third place.
Hosted in Iranians Western city of Kermanshah, the competition featured over 600 athletes from Iran, Azerbaijan, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Turkey, Kuwait, the Netherlands, Pakistan and Zimbabwe will be competing against one another in the international competitions.
Held in age groups of adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors in two sections of kata and kumite, the 2nd International So-Kyokushin Karate Competitions was held on August 12-14.
