The Iranian film Unripe Pomegranate directed by Majid Reza Mostafavi is among the 13 movies selected for the main competition section of Focus on Asia-Fukuoka International Film Festival.
Mostafavi’s production will have four screenings and compete with other film titles for Best Film Award and Fukuoka Audience Award which is granted to the winner through audience voting.
Unripe Pomegranate narrates the story of a husband and his young working wife live in suburb of Tehran. The wife takes care of an old woman suffering from Alzheimer while the husband is a construction welder in skyscrapers. One day the husband has an accident. The wife’s love and affection to her hospitalized husband and the old woman cause new problems for the family.
The 25th edition of Focus on Asia-Fukuoka International Film Festival will run from 18-26 September in the Japanese city of Fukuoka.
Iran had participated in the previous editions of the festival with A Separation, Fish & Cat and Parviz. the Oscar-winning film A Separation directed by Asghar Farhadi won the Best Film Award and Audience Award of the festival in 2011.
