Addressing thousands of worshippers in Tehran Imam Khomeini Grand Musalla, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati delivered his Friday Prayers sermons.
Ayatollah Jannati touched upon issues including the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between Iran and the 5+1, the history of West’s dishonesty with Iran, domestic economic issues, and the upcoming elections of the Parliament and Assembly of Experts.
Commenting on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the cleric greeted the Iranian diplomats for what he called the “round the clock” efforts and asserted that while the final result of the negotiations would raise discontent, yet it was the best possible outcome that could ever be achieved by the diplomats.
The Grand Ayatollah continued by reiterating that as the leader of the Islamic Republic had advised, the JCPOA should go through its legal channels while the other side should be watched not to sway from the agreement.
“I believe that even if they sign an agreement 100 times, they will easily breach it,” said Ayatollah Jannati as the country is scheduled to commemorate the anniversary of the US-British coup of 1953 in Iran when the westerners toppled the democratically elected Prime Minister Mosaddeq to bring monarchy back to Iran.
Congratulating Iranian scientists and researchers, the senior cleric hauled Iran’s nuclear achievements accomplished in the recent years while regreting that all the fruits could not be enjoyed for the while.
Whether the JCPOA should be ratified by Iran’s Parliament or not was answered by Ayatollah Jannati’s affirmative answer as he said he believed it was one of the cases that had to be presented and discussed in Majlis.
Partially he admitted that it could also be discussed in Iran’s Supreme Council of National Security, but he urged the people in charge to make the decision earlier.
Another aspect of the Iran-Sextet agreement of July 14 discussed by the cleric was that it was a national issue not appropriate to be dealt with like a political partisan issue as he condemned any fractional abuse of the achievement in the coming election.
Talking about unemployment rate and inflation, the interim Friday Prayers’ Leader urged the legislative and executive officials of the country to take sincere actions for solving the problems.
He highlighted that actions spoke louder than words and asked the officials to be more practical in the case rather than theoretical.
On the coming elections of Parliament and Assembly of Experts, Ayatollah Jannati made some comments but also promised to elaborate on them later.
