Death of the Fish, Rouhollah Hejazi’s last installment in his trilogy, depicts the story of siblings who gather at the family house after their mother has passed away. Upon her death, she leaves a strange will requesting that her children keep her body in the house for 3 days and not to inform anybody from the relatives.
The film will be screened at the Focus on World Cinema section of the festival.
Death of the Fish features 11 famous Iranian stars including Niki Karimi, Ali Mosafa, Tannaz Tabatabaei and Rima Raminfar among others. Hejazi considers this as his most favorite film compared to his previous productions.
Other Iranian films to participate at the festival include Majid Majidi’s biopic Muhammad (PBUH), A Time for Love directed by Alireza Raeisian, Houman Seyyedi’s Confessions of My Dangerous Mind, and Karim Amini’s short film Judgment Day.
The 39th Montreal World Film Festival will be held from August 27 to September 7. The annual event aims to encourage cultural diversity, promote innovative works and discover new talents.
It is the only competitive film festival in North America recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).
