Iran backs Syrian-Syrian political solution

TEHRAN, Aug. 05 (MNA) – The secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has told Syrian foreign minister nuclear deal proved that dialogue would be a good alternative to violence and threat.

Rear Adm. Ali Shamkhani who was receiving Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem on Wednesday, praised Syrian people and government’s resistance during past four years against terrorist fighters, which “cast some light into the true nature of these cruel and inhumane terrorists and the uncontrollable nature of terrorism.”

“ISIL is a global threat, and its supporters should be held responsible for their role in complicity in killing of innocent civilians in the future,” said adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Republic. “Solution to Syrian crisis is a dialogue parties of which are both Syrians, as well as liberating the lands under the terrorists’ control, to restore peace and security to the citizens, and forming of a new national unity,” Shamkhani said.

“Any military intervention in Syrian crisis by third-party countries is unacceptable, and extremely weakens legitimate government and state institutions supported by the public, and will definitely spread insecurity and terrorism in scopes unimagined of before; recent shift of priorities to that of a sort of cooperation with Syrian government and opting for political means proves Syrian upper hand and its principled positons in respecting to the will of people and democracy in the country,” he told al-Muallem.

Leader’s representative to the Council also pointed to political attempts as necessary to solve current crises in the region; “the road trodden by Iran in the nuclear issue demonstrated that dialogue would be a good alternative to violence and coercion; regional cooperation is necessary to tackle the contributing factors of instability, and a responsible position toward these crises by countries in the region would prove effective in addressing the major threat of the Zionist regime, who has been most benefited from spread of terrorism,” Shamkhani asserted.

Walid al-Muallem provided the meeting with a report of the current situation in the field, and taking ground against Takfirist groups, believing that diplomatic path was the most important option now available; “Syrian government had dialogues with unarmed opposition groups interested in Syrian territorial integrity,” said al-Muallem, expressing gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s government and people for supports for Syrian people and government.

“A change of approach in part of some countries toward support of terrorists and effective confrontation with the ISIL and other terrorist groups are prerequisite to any long-term sustainable solution to the crisis in Syria,” he told the meeting.
