Dialogue only solution to crisis in region

TEHRAN, Apr. 30 (MNA) – Iranian Parliament's General Director for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said the political dialogue is the only solution to the crisis in the region and must be given serious attention by all sides who pursue peace and stability.

Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Tehran Levan Jagarian on Sunday.

Pointing to the good relations between the two countries, Amir-Abdollahian said Iran-Russia cooperation in the political, economic and parliamentary fields is in the interest of all countries in the region.

“The common and strong positions of the two countries on the need to effectively combat terrorism contribute a great deal to the global peace and stability,” he added.

At the end of the meeting, he emphasized the need for joint cooperation between the two countries on regional and international issues, including in international and parliamentary forums, saying enhancement of communication between parliaments of the two countries, especially between the specialized committees, would be effective in the development of friendly relations.

Levan Jagarian, for his part, also noted the consistent positions of the two countries on political solution and serious combat against terrorism, saying good relations between Iran and Russia at various levels have resulted in coordination and joint action to help establish peace and stability in the Middle East region.

He undelined his country always welcomes the boost and strengthening in ties with the Islamic Republic in all fields.

“Parliamentary cooperation is of great significance to identify areas of cooperation and to strengthen bilateral, regional and international transactions,” Russian ambassador noted.
