Iran fully ready to aid Yemen: Deputy FM

TEHRAN, May 10 (MNA) – In a telephone conversation with Valerie Amos, Iran’s deputy FM for Arab and African Affairs announced Iran’s readiness to transfer Yemeni injured people to Iran, and urgently dispatch fuel ships as well as medical aid teams.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator discussed the aid operations and sending off urgent humanitarian aid to innocent Yemeni people today.

Iranian official, while strongly condemning the continuation of Saudi Arabia’s attacks on Yemen, said bombardment and destruction of infrastructures and airports that have been prepared to receive the humanitarian aid from international organizations are absolute violations of international law and humanitarian rights.

“Iran expects UN special envoy to Yemeni crisis Ismail Valad Sheikh Ahmad to arrive in Sana’a immediately and to act on direction of preventing the exacerbation of humanitarian crisis,” added he.

Iran deputy FM meanwhile asserted that Iran is ready to cooperate fully with UN aid program on fields of urgent dispatch of fuel ships and petroleum products to different Yemeni ports; sending off medical teams and establishment of three field hospitals in Sana’a, Aden, the provinces UN sees the need, immediate shipping of aid and food cargos by air to Djibouti or directly to Yemen, dedicating two cargo planes and three cargo ships to speed up the UN aid process and transfer of medicines and food supplies to Yemen through Djibouti

Amir-Abdollahian said Iran would welcome the urgent transfer of injured Yemenis to Tehran, as well.

Amos, while commending Iran’s attention to the humanitarian dimensions of Yemeni crisis and its principled support of international aid operations, confirmed that UN has prepared an inclusive program to aid Yemeni civilians. “specialized organizations and workgroups will improve the aid operations and Iran’s aid will be sent to Yemen within the frame of UN programs,” added she.
