Iran, Russia stress peaceful solution to Yemen’s conflict

MOSCOW, Mar. 26 (MNA) – In a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Iranian deputy FM Amir-Abdollahian has stressed a peaceful solution to the ongoing conflict in Yemen.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met with his Russian counterpart, Mikhail Bogdanov, in the country’s capital on Wednesday to discuss the latest developments in Yemen.

During the meeting, the two sides stressed the need for a peaceful resolution to the country’s issues and an end to its internal conflict.

Amir-Abdollahian commented on the situation in Yemen, Bahrain, and the Persian Gulf region, and expressed the Islamic Republic’s stance on these issues to the Russian side.

He also highlighted the important role of consultations between Iran and Russia over regional issues.

"During the discussion of the situation in the Republic of Yemen the common opinion was expressed about the need to settle the acute domestic crisis in that country on the basis of a broad national dialogue involving all influential political forces in Yemen," the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a report.

Mikhail Bogdanov also maintained that Russia was deeply concerned with the ongoing conflicts in Yemen and was ready to help resolve this country’s situation as well as other regional issues.
