Iranian parliamentary delegation depart for London

TEHRAN, Mar. 08 (MNA) – A delegation of Iranian parliamentarians departed Tehran for an official visit to London this morning.

Head of the Iran-Britain Parliamentary Friendship Group Abbas Ali Mansouri Arani said the delegation's visit to Britain is at the invitation of his British counterpart Jack Straw, the head of Britain-Iran parliamentary friendship group, IRNA reported.

Iranian parliamentary delegation aims at holding talks with Iranians in London, review some parliamentary issues and meet with British parliamentary delegation and the students.

Britain-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group which includes four representatives of Britain’s Parliament and which is headed by former UK foreign Secretary Jack Straw visited the Iranian capital in January, 2014.

Iran and Britain agreed in October last year to appoint non-resident chargé d’affaires as a first step toward reopening their respective embassies.

Britain and Iran downgraded their relations to the lowest level in autumn 2011, following the UK support for sanctions against Tehran that led to a vote by a large majority of Iranian MPs to downgrade diplomatic ties with Britain, Iran's state News Agency had it.
