Iran uses 4 novel therapeutic approaches to heal chronic wounds

TEHRAN, Feb. 21 (MNA) – The head of the Center for Wound and Tissue Healing in Tehran University of Medical Sciences announced the treatment of chronic wounds using 4 novel therapeutic approaches in the center.

Gholamreza Ismaeli, while pointing to the treatment of chronic wounds using 4 novel therapeutic approaches in the center, said multi-specialty clinic for chronic wounds has made detailed assessment on the real causes of ulcers to take effective steps in treating patients by making the technology available in the healing process of chronic wounds including the use of optical tissue repair, maggot therapy, ultrasound, low-power lasers and medical treatments.

Pointing out the objectives of the center, Ismaeli said the center aims at providing diagnostic and therapeutic services for any part of the body including leg, foot, stomach and back ulcers.

This center has provided services for the prevention and treatment of acute and chronic wounds induced from diabetic foot, cardiovascular, arterial, venous, lymphatic diseases and ulcers caused by radiation therapy, trauma, burns and pressure sores.
