Speaker says developing ties with Asia a priority

TEHRAN, Jan. 10 (MNA) -- Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad Adel said on Monday that developing ties with Asian countries has been given priority in Iran’s foreign policy.

In his meeting with South Korean Ambassador to Tehran Baek Ki-Moon, the speaker said there are great avenues for promoting economic and industrial cooperation between the two Asian states.

An agreement between Iran and South Korea to export Iran’s gas to South Korea will lead to an increase in the level of trade transactions between the two countries, IRNA quoted Hadad Adel as saying.

The speaker expressed hope that the current talks between Tehran and Seoul on the export of Iranian liquid gas to Korea will bear fruitful results.

The South Korean diplomat, for his part, said that Iran and South Korea have had long-standing relations in political, cultural and economic fields.

He referred to the presence of South Korean companies in various industrial sectors in Iran, saying that his country is willing to expand political and economic relations with Tehran.
