Salehi says Iran is attentive to Persian Gulf states’ security issues

TEHRAN, Feb. 26 (MNA) – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi reiterated Tehran’s position that Iran seeks a deepening of ties with the Persian Gulf Arab countries and considers security in the Persian Gulf Arab states as its own.

Salehi made the remarks in a speech to the High Council of the Persian Gulf attended by Iranian ambassadors in the Persian Gulf states, governors of provinces bordering the Persian Gulf and number of officials from ministries and state bodies.

The senior diplomat said the enemies and ill-wishers are trying hard to damage Iran’s ties with and the Persian Gulf Arab states by raising baseless allegations against Tehran.

He went on to say, “Any insecurity and instability in the region will hurt the stability, security and economic development of all regional countries and therefore the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on the principle of mutual respect and non-interference in the in the internal affairs of others, has been seeking to deepen inclusive ties with neighboring countries and believes that regional security should be provided within the framework of collective security by regional countries.”
