No exchange for Iranian pilgrims’ release

TEHRAN, Jan. 9 (MNA) –The Syrian deputy information minister says that no exchange has been carried out for release of Iranian pilgrims kidnapped by rebel fighters.

 The agreement was a “group effort,” Khalaf al-Meftah, Syria’s deputy information minister, Arabic-language Al- Alam news channel today. Hussein Morteza, head of Al-Alam local office in Damascus has also said that Iran’s ambassador to Syria and other Syrian officials expect the pilgrims arrive at Damascus.

In August, 4th , 11 AM local time, Syrian rebel fighters stopped the bus carrying Iranian pilgrims and kidnapped 48 pilgrims among them en route  Zeinab (as) shrine in Damascus suburbs before setting off to airport.

According to Al Alam report, Bulent Yildrim, the head of Turkish humanitarian aid group said on Wednesday that mediation between rebel fighters and Syrian government forces to fix a trade contract for exchanging 2130 fighters, Turkish citizens among them,  detained in Syrian prisons for the release of 48 Iranian pilgrims has been successful.
