Dubai galleries organizing Iranian art show in Berlin

TEHRAN, Aug. 27 (MNA) -- Two Dubai galleries will showcase paintings by the Iranian artists Abbas Akhavan, Rokni Haerizadeh and Ramin Haerizadeh at the German art show ABC Art Berlin Contemporary.

The show, which will be held from September 7 to 11, is dedicated to painting this year and it will feature some 127 artists represented by 119 international galleries.

Dubai’s Third Line Gallery, which specializes in Contemporary Middle Eastern Art, will display paintings by the Iranian artist Abbas Akhavan during the Berlin show.

Akhavan, who has been living in Canada since 1992, received a Master of Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. He has tried his hand at a variety of media, including painting, installation, video/performance and site-specific ephemeral work.

Gallery Isabelle van den Eynde in Dubai, which has expertise in representing artworks by artists from Middle East, will present paintings by the two brothers Rokni and Ramin Haerizadeh at the show.

Rokni’s works are displayed in public and private collections, among which are the British Museum, the Devi Art Foundation, the JP Morgan Chase Collection, the Rubell Family Collection, and the Rosenblum collection. He currently lives and works in Dubai.

Ramin Haerizadeh’s most recent project, “Beware of This Image” (2011) was presented at the Sharjah Biennal. He lives with his brother Rokni in Dubai.

Conceived as a showcase of contemporary paintings, the exhibition will also feature installations, works on paper, video, photography and sculptures that deal thematically with painting as a medium.

With its numerous international galleries and central European location, Berlin has long established itself internationally as one of the most vital centers of art production today.
