Three Historical Monuments Destroyed in Neyshabur Train Blast

TEHRAN Feb. 24 (Mehr News Agency) –- The head of Neyshabur Cultural Heritage Department said on Tuesday three historical monuments located near the Khayyam railway station have been almost entirely destroyed by the train blast that occurred last Wednesday in northeast Iran 20km from the ancient city of Neyshabur.

Runaway fuel wagons exploded in Khayyam railway station on February 18th, killing more than 300 people and destroying five surrounding villages.

 

“Dating back to the Qajar era, Haji E’temad’s house and school and the mosque of Dehno Village were damaged between 80-100 percent in this accident,” said Mohammad-Ismail E’temadi.

 

He said that the monuments were registered as national Iranian cultural heritage buildings.
