The literary award is held every two years and basically the increase in numbers leads to the quality improvement as well, Hamidzadeh told the Persian service of IRNA.
The award presentation ceremony took place at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on Monday where Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini considered Parvin Etesami to be a unique phenomenon in the world of literature.
Parvin Etesami (1907-40) was one of the most prominent Persian poets of the 20th century. Her first anthology of poems was published in 1935. Her poetry is based upon themes of social, humanitarian and mystical concepts, and contains no allusions to romantic love or feminine sentiment.
The ceremony continued with handing the awards to the winners in the different categories of poetry, children’s and young adults’ literature, and literary research.
In the poetry section, Fariba Yusefi, writer of “Now You” and Mojgan Abbaslu of “Perhaps You Remember Me Again” shared the first award in the traditional poetry section.
The blank verse award was jointly shared by Sudabeh Amini “Apple of the Eve” and Sharareh Kamrani for “Un-explained Memories”.
The book “In the Mirror of a River” written by Mohammadreza Shafiei-Kadkani with translation by Pari Azarm Motamedi received the poetry translation award.
The Persian translation of Russian author Mikhail Bakhtin’s “Discourse in the Novel” by Roya Purazar took the literary research award.
In the children’s category, the winners were announced in the various sections.
“White, Black and Striped” by Shokuh Qasemnia, “Nini Collection” by Banafsheh Rasulian and “Sparrow Flying, Socks Flying” by Maryam Hashempur shared the first award in the children’s poetry section.
The young adult award was jointly presented to “I Became a Robot” by Kobra Babaii and “To Reach for the Hands of the King of the World” by Mahdieh Nazari.
The children’s story award was jointly presented to “Miss Monster Is Going to the Wedding Party” by Sarvar Katbi and “Goodbye Old Raccoon” by Keller Jobert.
The Persian translation of “Yellow and Pink” (William Steig) by Keller Jobert and “Adventures of the Little Onion” by Italian Gianni Rodari, translated by Marzieh Shojaeii shared the children’s story translation award.
“Heaven Eyes” by British author David Almond and translated into Persian by Nasrin Vakili shared the young adult’s translation award with “The Silverwing Saga” by Canadian Kenneth Oppel, translated by Maliheh Mohammadi.
