In a meeting of CHTHO Head, Hamid Baqaii, and managing directors of free zone organizations of Iran with ambassadors and chargé d'affaires of ECO countries in Iran, the Iranian side highlighted the advantages of investing in FTZs for the ECO representatives.
Heads of Arvand, Kish, Aras, Anzali, Qeshm, and Chabahar free zone organizations briefed the guests with potentials for investment in the zones, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting reported on Monday.
Iran's free trade zones are connected to the major international waterways via the Caspian Sea, the Persian Gulf, the Oman Sea, and the Indian Ocean. They are located in proximity to regional markets with regard to import, export and transit of raw materials, and intermediate or manufactured goods.
The zones have appropriate access to abundant sources of energy such as natural gas and crude oil, mineral resources, unique in the Middle East, required for industrial production and exports.
ECO is an inter-governmental regional organization established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey for the purpose of promoting economic, technical and cultural cooperation among the member states. Islamic State of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan Republic, Islamic Republic of Iran, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Turkey, Turkmenistan and Republic of Uzbekistan are the current ECO members.
