Iranian artist Namdar paints his box installations

TEHRAN, Feb. 2 (MNA) -- An exhibition of paintings created by Iranian artist Hamid Namdar is currently underway at Mah-e Mehr Gallery.

The showcase is on the theme of “boxes” in which he has painted a two or three-dimensional picture of box displays that he has created.

Previously, he has held several exhibits in Germany, the Netherlands and Turkey and this is his debut showcase in Tehran.

“The idea came to my mind when I came across box-making shops in Tabriz. I was enchanted by the symmetry of the arrangements of boxes in which I saw boxes placed beside each other, so I decided to create paintings on them,” he said.

After that, he began his studies on the structure of boxes and the exhibition is the result of his ideas and studies. He uses lighting, shadows and colored curtains in making his displays of boxes.

The exhibit will run until February 12 at the venue located on No. 7 Nilufar St., off Africa Ave.
