A sum total of 150m rials has been allocated toward the reconstruction efforts and building of a flower plantation in the area, the head of department said, adding that it will help pull in more foreign and domestic visitors.
Dating back to 881 years ago, the two-floor dome is the oldest in the city. Its unique style of architecture, combination of azure and blue tile works, as well as plasterwork and geometrical motifs, have long been a clear sample of ancient architecture for the region.
Marageh lies on the southern slopes of Mount Sahand at an elevation of 1,619m (5,312 ft) above sea level. It is just 22km (14 mi) east of Lake Urumieh, and 130km (80 mi) south of Tabriz by road. The city is a trading centre for the surrounding agricultural and fruit-growing district as well as a transit route.
