Iran power capacity to reach 50,000MW by March ’08

TEHRAN, Nov. 16 (MNA) – Power capacity will soar to 50 thousand megawatts from current 47 thousand megawatts by the end of Iranian year (March 19, 2008), the energy minister said here Friday.

 

Parviz Fattah attending the official opening ceremony of Neka Combined Cycle Power Plant added, “For the time being, Iran ranks first in terms of technical and engineering services and power supply to the remotest areas of the country and region.”

 

The minister said the newly inaugurated plant manifests the state’s determination in development plans.

 

Pointing to gas plants’ 12 thousand megawatts capacity convertible to combined cycle ones, Fattah expressed hope the projects will be implemented to add more six thousand megawatts to the grid.
