This joint production of Iran and France is about a family in which the wife doubts her husband’s loyalty. Everything seems to indicate that the wife suffers from melancholia, but things turn out differently.
Starring Iranian superstar Hedyeh Tehrani along with Hamid Farrokhnejad, Taraneh Alidusti, Pantea Bahram, and Sahar Dowlatshahi, “Fireworks Wednesday” has been awarded the Crystal Simorgh in various categories including best director, best editing and best actress at the 24th Fajr International Film Festival held in Tehran in January 2006. In addition the film won the festival’s audience favorite award.
The film has also won the Gold Hugo for Best Film at the 42nd Chicago International Film Festival and the Junior Jury 3rd Prize of the 59th Locarno International Film Festival in 2006.
The MedFilm Festival highlighting Mediterranean cinema will run until November 18.
