Requested by Iran’s Stamp Association to choose a suitable subject for the stamp, the deputy of Iran’s Cultural Heritage Organization has selected Falakolaflak Castle as an Iranian symbol, cultural deputy of Lorestan’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Department told IRNA on Tuesday.
Iran’s Cultural Heritage Organization and Morocco’s cultural officials have signed a memorandum of understanding in which Iran’s Falakolaflak has been selected for the joint project, Mohammad Azizi added.
Situated on the top of a large hill within the city of Khorramabad, the regional capital of Lorestan province, Falakolaflak covers an area of 5,300 square meters. Built over 1800 years ago, it is one of the most important structures remaining from the Sasanid era. The fortress was constructed from mud-bricks, mud-fired bricks, stone, wood, and mortar.
