Iran lodges protest over Jordan’s facilitation of US attacks

TEHRAN, Mar. 23 (MNA) – Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amir Saeid Iravani has sent a letter to UN Secretary-General and the UNSC president, strongly protesting the illegal actions of the Kingdom of Jordan.

In the letter sent on Sunday, Iravani rejected baseless and misleading allegations raised by Jordan in its recent communication to the United Nations.

In that communication, Iravani said, Jordan had intentionally ignored the fact that the US and Israel had launched their attacks on Iran in clear violation of fundamental principles of international law. By reversing the legal reality, Jordan instead sought to put the blame on Iran which is the victim of the aggression, he added.

According to the Iranian envoy, monitoring and assessments by Iran’s Armed Forces indicate that US and Israeli forces repeatedly used Jordan’s territory, airspace and facilities to carry out military operations against Iran.

He cited the use of Jordan’s Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Azraq by fighter jets, including F‑15, F‑16 and F‑35 aircraft, as well as the role of US aerial refueling planes that crossed Jordanian airspace to support the operations.

Iravani said such actions amount to a violation of international law, and argued that states are obligated not to allow their territory to be used for attacks against other countries.

He also said that the strikes have caused extensive civilian casualties and damage to residential areas and critical infrastructure in Iran.

Iravani called on Jordan to immediately halt any support or facilitation of such operations and prevent the use of its territory or airspace against Iran. He also said Iran reserves the right to pursue legal measures at the international level to ensure accountability and compensation.
