President calls for national unity in New Year message

TEHRAN, Mar. 20 (MNA) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called for national unity and reconciliation in a message marking the start of the new year, saying Iran needs solidarity more than ever.

Masoud Pezeshkian stressed the need to set aside grievances and differences under current national conditions, saying Iran needs a Nowruz that demonstrates unity, cohesion and national consensus to the world more than ever this year.

According to Mehr News Agency, in a video message marking the beginning of the new year, Pezeshkian said that with the arrival of Nowruz, all disputes should be put aside so that the country can move through crises and challenges with collective cooperation.

The president also referred to relations with neighboring countries, saying Iran does not seek disputes with Muslim countries and has no intention of conflict or war with them.

He described neighboring Muslim countries as brothers and said existing tensions stem from hostile efforts aimed at creating divisions among Muslims.

In another part of his remarks, Pezeshkian referred to recent tragic events and said that during the holy month, Iran had lost senior figures, commanders and ministers.

He also said that 168 children were killed in a school, criticizing those who speak of human rights and humanity.
