National libraries of Iran and Belarus to cooperate

TEHRAN, July 10 (MNA) -- Ali-Akbar Ash’ari, the director of Iran’s National Library, and Raman Matulski, the director of the National Library of Belarus, held discussions on cooperation between the two libraries during a meeting in Tehran earlier this week.

Matulski said that the joint efforts of the national libraries of Iran and Belarus were highlighted in the bilateral cooperation agreement signed by the presidents of the two countries in Minsk.

The National Library of Belarus has over 1000 Persian language books and even more books about Iran in other languages, he added.

Ash’ari underlined the importance of effective communications between Iran’s National Library and the national libraries of other countries. He said that these activities will enrich the libraries and introduce the Persian literary fountainhead to the people of other countries.

Matulski has visited Iran’s National Library in Tehran and also plans to travel to Mashhad to visit the Astan-e Qods Razavi Library during his three-day sojourn in Iran.
