The United Nations' top legal body, the International Court of Justice, said on Wednesday Israel is forced to support the relief efforts provided by United Nations in the Gaza strip and its entities, including UNWRA, AFP reported.
The panel of 11 judges have added Israel has not substantiated its claims that a significant part of UNRWA employees are "members of Hamas", the judges said.
The CJ also said Israel must meet the "basic needs" of the population on Gaza, including providing everything they need to survive.
"As an occupying power, Israel is obliged to ensure the basic needs of the local population, including the supplies essential for their survival," said ICJ President Yuji Iwasawa.
"The court considers that Israel is under an obligation to agree to and facilitate relief schemes provided by the United Nations and its entities, including UNRWA," said Iwasawa.
