Israel terrified of Iran's response to consulate attack

TEHRAN, Apr. 07 (MNA) – Iran's Ambassador to Syria Hossein Akbari says that the Tel Aviv regime is frightened of Iran's response to the Israeli attack on the country's consulate in Damascus last week.

The senior Iranian diplomat made the comments while speaking at a ceremony at Iran's embassy in Damascus on the occasion of the International Quds Day.

Saying that Iran filed a complaint against Tel Aviv at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) after the Israeli regime targeted the building of the country's consulate in Damascus and clearly violated all international laws, Akbari underlined that since the UNSC failed to take the necessary decisions to prevent the repetition of such horrible crimes by the Zionist regime, Iran reserves its right to respond.

Iran warns the UNSC member states not to remain silent in the face of these crimes and to fulfill their duties in maintaining international peace and security, he emphasized.

He went on to say that the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus was an attempt to provoke sedition and create division among the Syrian people, adding that such goals of the Zionists would never be realized.

The Israeli regime attacked Iran's consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Monday evening. The Israeli aggression led to the destruction of the entire building and the martyrdom and injury of the entire people inside it.

Seven of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military advisors were martyred following the Israeli attack on Iran's consulate in Damascus on Monday, IRGC said in a statement.

Reacting to the Israeli aggression, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kan'ani on Monday night said that the Islamic Republic of Iran, while reserving its rights to take countermeasures, decides on the type of reaction and punishment of the aggressor.
