5 new public hospitals completed since August 2021

TEHRAN, Jan. 27 (MNA) – Five new public hospitals with 971 beds have been completed since August 2021 when the 13th Government took office, Managing Director of the 'Executive Organization for Public and Government Buildings and Infrastructures says.

These hospitals include Torbat-e Heydariyeh Hospital with 273 beds, the substitute hospital for the 15-Khordad Mehdishahr in Semnan Province with 99 beds, Jahrom Hospital in Fars Province with 313 beds, the substitute hospital for the Shahid Rajaee in Gachsaran, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province with 142 beds, the substitute hospital for Khomeyn in Markazi Province with 144 beds. 

Three hospitals under study are 350-bed hospital in Baharestan city in Tehran Province, the substitute hospital for the Baharloo Hospital with 330 beds, Tehran's Razi Psychiatric Hospital with 549 beds which their construction will be kicked off before long. 

The Executive Organization for Public and Government Buildings and Infrastructures is affiliated organization to Iran Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and is responsible for building public and government buildings. 

Iran is improving resilience of hospitals drawing on international experiences and standards. Following successful completion of BEHTAB I project in Iran as the first phase of the project for improving resilience of hospitals, in May 2023, the implementation process of the second phase of the 'Project for Improving the Resilience of Hospitals' (BEHTAB II) was formally kicked off for retrofitting Ayatollah Tabarsi Hospital in Sari through joint partnership of Iran and UN-Habitat. The project for retrofitting this hospital is funded by the Japanese Government.
