Atmosphere of distrust stymies global development

TEHRAN, Jan. 16 (MNA) – The world community needs to come together and shed the atmosphere of distrust that permeates relations and stymies global development, Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang said.

"The lack of trust exacerbates risks to global economic growth and peaceful development," he emphasized, speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

As the head of the Chinese government specified, the world community should "strive for solidarity in overcoming differences." He recalled that in recent decades, the global economy has thrived due to an atmosphere of mutual trust, TASS reported.

"The world is facing a new stage of rapid change, but the general trend of humanity's development and progress cannot change," Li Qiang added.

The World Economic Forum is a Swiss non-governmental organization that meets annually to discuss topical issues related to politics, economics and public life.

The 54th annual meeting of the WEF is taking place in Davos from January 15 to 19 under the theme "Rebuilding Trust." It brings together business executives, political leaders and experts from more than 120 countries (a total of 2,800 participants). The Russian side is not represented at the current meeting in Davos, as the organizers did not send it an invitation, just like in 2023.
