Team Melli had lost to Belarus 28-29 in its first match but defeated Russia 29-26 in the second match.
The tournament brought host Russia, youth Russia, Belarus, and Iran together.
Iran participated in the event to prepare for the 2024 Asian Men's Handball Championship.
The Asian championship will be held in Manama, Bahrain, from January 11 to 25.
Iran has been drawn in Group B along with South Korea, China, and New Zealand.
